Across the eight New Initiative and New Investigator final reports from 2020-2022 awards, 20 manuscripts were reported as either published, in review or in preparation. All 8 PIs reported plans to continue research by either obtaining further funding or exploring funding opportunities.
The Charles E. Kaufman Foundation has an ongoing data analysis effort for the programs New Initiative and New Investigator.
Each year, a dedicated group of scientists gathers for a pivotal event known as "Kaufman Day." This is the one day of the year that the Scientific Advisory Board (SAB) of the Charles E. Kaufman Foundation meets in person to finalize its grant recommendations, shaping the future of scientific research in Pennsylvania.

My early life was split between the US and Denmark, which is where my mom is from. I think of myself as growing up in New England because we settled in the Boston area when I was 10 and I stayed there through my undergraduate and graduate training.
