Tracking Conversion Rates for New Initiative and New Investigator grant programs:

We are interested in tracking how conversion rates for these two programs change over time. We track the first phase of the grantmaking cycle by the rate of LOIs that receive a full proposal invite and the second phase of the grantmaking cycle by the rate of full proposal invites that receive a grant. We also take a zoomed-out approach by tracking the rate of LOIs that receive a grant.
In 2025, 18% of LOIs received a full proposal invite, 31% of full proposal invites received a grant and 6% of LOIs received a grant. These rates reflect the trends from analyzing data from 2019 – 2024.
